In this session I ventured out to Morfa beach solo armed with some crab to target smooth hounds mainly but also some frozen black lug to to have a go at the possibility how of a flattie. Getting set up 3 hours before low water I wasn’t expecting much until closer to low water but soon as darkness fell it didnt take long for the first smooth hound to show. For the next 2 and a half down to low it was manic fishing with some nice sizeable hounds giving a good account for themselves. Just on the turn of the tide seen more hounds and the added addition of 3 thornback rays and 4 dogfish. Having work in a few hours i only fished an hour of the flood and by then i had run out of bait thankfully and it was time to head home. 15 smooth hounds to 11.5lb, 3 small thornbacks and 4 doggies was a mayhem in such a short space of time and also on my own proved tricky on times managing to get a hook in my hand and blood everywhere.
