Flying Tiger Line/Federal Express Boeing 747 Fleet History (1974-1999)

**NOTE: RE-UPLOADED FROM MY OLD CHANNEL** Eyo and welcome to my Fleet Histories series where we take a look at the operational history of aircraft fleets both active and retired. Passenger airliners are normally featured, although freighter and government aircraft will be covered occasionally. This series was inspired by the videos of elmauriplatense, Ibirdball, Scaring Crab, and many other aviation Youtubers. Flying Tiger Line (aka Flying Tigers) began 747 operations when they acquired a surplus 747-100 from American Airlines and converted it to freighter configuration in 1974. This was the first passenger 747 to be converted for cargo use. The airline continued using converted passenger 747-100s until they received their first pure freighter, a 747-200F, in 1979. Flying Tigers utilized these aircraft on many of their intercontinental services until they merged with Federal Express (later FedEx). Federal Express inherited their aircraft, but didn't use the 747s as frequently as their other aircraft types. They were finally retired in 1999.
