A question we hear a lot is when does the recruiting process begin? In this video we discuss when and how to start the recruiting process to set yourself up for the most success. SUMMARY What is the college recruiting timeline? The first question student-athletes ask as they kick off their recruiting journey is: when can coaches contact me? The first opportunity for official recruiting activity varies by sport and division level. Here is a breakdown of the NCAA recruiting process rules and timelines: • NCAA Division 1: June 15 after sophomore year (for most sports) • NCAA Division 2: June 15 after sophomore year (for most sports) • NCAA Division 3: Coaches can contact athletes at any time. • NAIA/JUCO: Similar to Division 3; Coaches can contact athletes at any time. • There’s a guide on NCSA’s website that breaks all this down: https://www.ncsasports.org/ncaa-eligi... • The best way to use this calendar is to know when coaches are contacting and evaluating athletes and get on their radar ahead of time. But don’t be mistaken—coaches actively recruit behind the scenes before this time. Even when they can’t contact an athlete directly, coaches are still scouting and evaluating players behind the scenes.
