Looking for some fun day trips to take that are just about an hour's drive from Daytona? I'll be sharing three trips I love and one bonus trip I haven't tried yet! 1. St. Augustine: America's first city, this is one of my favorite places to explore. Immerse yourself in history by strolling cobblestone streets, admiring the architecture or doing a little shopping. You can also visit the Castillo de San Marco National Monument, check out the lighthouse, the Alligator Farm or the vibrant restaurant and bar scene here. Some restaurants to put on your must visit list include The Floridan and Columbia Restaurant where you have to get their 1905 salad! 2. Sanford: This city has an adorable downtown area known for it's award winning restaurants, craft breweries, concerts and more. Stroll along the river or grab a bite to eat at Hollerbach's German Restaurant. You'll love the food and entertainment here! Take a river cruise on the St. John's Riverboat Company and have a delicious meal and see some of Central Florida's natural beauty. Sanford is also home to the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Garden with 100's of animals and plenty to do with the kids including a train splash pad and aerial course. 3. Florida's Natural Springs: There are several springs to choose from in Central Florida including Blue Springs State Park, Deleon Springs State Park, Alexander Springs and Silver Glen Springs. Each has their own unique features and beauty, but all of them have crystal clear water that is a consistent 72 degrees all year round. Swim, float, snorkel or scuba. Whatever tickles your fancy, you'll have a blast at any of the springs! Bonus Trip! Key West: You can now fly directly to Key West from Sanford and it's a pretty affordable flight! If you catch an early morning flight, you'll be able to explore Key West and see things like the Hemmingway House, The Butterfly Conservatory or check out what's going on down on Duval and still have time to catch your flight back to Sanford and be home by bedtime.
