This traditional South Indian Appam is a tasty breakfast dish. It is most popular in Kerala state. You can have it with egg curry / mutton stew / vegetable kurma / beef curry / kadala curry. If you follow the steps in this recipe you can make soft and super tasty paalappam. In my home town Kottayam it is known by the name paalappam. But in some part of kerala it is known as vellayappam. There is one street in Thrissur city known as vellayappangadi where you can see every shop is ready with hot & tasty vellayappam (palappam) from early morning. Ingredients Raw Rice – 2 Cups Cooked Rice – 1 Cup Grated Coconut - 1 Cup Sugar – 3 tsp Salt – to taste Yeast ¾ tsp Lukewarm water -1/4 tsp Water for Grinding Batter Preparation Please Follow the Video preparation 1. Heat the appa-chatti and smear a little oil. 2. Pour a spoonful of batter and swirl the pan - this leaves the center thick and the sides thinner. 3. Now close the pan and leave it to cook for a minute or two.
