The September 2024 featured apparatus on the @fireandsafetynj Calendar project is Squad 21-1, Berlin Fire Co., Berlin, NJ. Delivered in June, 2023, this months Behind the Build series focuses on the construction and design features of this Pierce Impel Heavy Duty Rescue Pumper. This Squad boasts 450 HP engine with TAK-4 independent front suspension. A Waterous 2000 GPM pump with the Husky 3 Foam System and 750 gallons of water rounds out the suppression capabilities. A tremendous amount of work went into the build, from design to delivery, the process involved members from the backseat to the front office. Squad 21-1 was designed for the growing demands of its' first due along with shared responses with adjoining jurisdictions. Outfitted for fire and rescue services, Squad 21-1 is a well thought out design which included upfitting by the crew at Fire and Safety Services.
