The Merits of Love of His ﷺ Family, the Ahlul Bayt

Allāh instructs to the Prophet ﷺ to deliver “the good news to His worshipers”: “Say, ‘I do not ask you for any reward [for what I do], except for the love those who are near [my family].’” (42:23 asḫ-Sḫūrā) Who are his family? And why is the love of them is a good news to the His worshipers? The most obvious candidates to count as “near” to him ﷺ are his direct family, also known as Ahl-l-Kisāʾ.
