Spruce Bark Basket

Hiking through the wilderness I stumbled upon a large spruce tree that had recently been blown over by the wind. I saw it as an opportunity to harvest the bark to craft baskets from. This video follows the process as I use a knife to create a medium sized spruce bark basket. These types of projects are a lot of fun and yield a great item for use around camp. Since I started so late in the day, I ran out of time and was unable to attach the reinforcement for the rim. I will finish the basket another day but even without the reinforced rim it's still a functional piece of kit. I plan to do more spruce bark projects in the future since it's such a great material to work with. God bless! The knife used in this video is a Helle Sigmund.
