This is a video of the USS LHD-7 in 1/350 scale by Gallery Models. I have completely upgraded the air wing however to work in the Escort Carrier Role with 20 F-35B 5th generation US Marine Stealth Strike Fighters. This is very critical. The US Navy and Marines have been testing this concept since before Desert Storm in the early 1990s when they outfitted three LHDs with 22 AV-8B Harrier II + aircraft. And they liked what they saw. It was just that the Harrier did not have the range or the stealth or supersonic capability. Now the US Marines (and other nations) are buying the F-35B which is a 5th generation, supersonic, VSTOL super sonic strike fighter. And there are other available aircraft to enhance these vessels and give then a near equal capability in AEW and ASW to the larger US Navy nuclear carriers. So the Wasp Class and the America class LHD and LHA ships are being actively tested, at sea and on actual missions with these aircraft. We have seen as many as 14 such aircraft on the vessels to date. At the same time, The Japanese have announced that they intend to establish their two Izumo class carriers (which are about the size of the Wasp Class, and the South Koreans have announce that they too will place F-35Bs on their Dokdo class vessels. The Australians are talking about the possibility of doing the same with the Canberra class vessels. All of a sudden we have a potential of six or more carriers from allies and up to six new carriers from the US carrying 20-24 F-35Bs to help offset the carriers the Chinese are building...and it has them worried as well it should. The Japanese produced their two new larger Izumo class carriers in about two years building and one and one half years outfitting and work up to commissioning. They could easily build two more that are even more F-35B centric in te same time frame. India has expressed interest. We know Spain and Italy will use the F-35B, and the UK will use them on their new, 65,000+ ton Queen Elizabeth class. I show in this video how all of this produces a market that makes the EV-22 AEW Osprey and the SV-22 ASW Osprey viable by creating a market large enough to make their full development and sale well worth it to these nations. So, please enjoy the video and the comparisons I show. One fix...at the end I speak of a 1/700 video of the Chinese two carrier CSG when I was talking about my 1/700 scale video of the Japanese tw carrier video. I would urge everyone to find that video and take a look. It is very impressive what the Japanese have done. I also have a CSG video of the Chinese Liaoning Carrier with all of it escorts which shows how far the Chinese have come in such a short space of time...though I believe these announcements and developments by the US, Japan, Korea and others are a warning to China indicating that if they persist, these other nations can persist as well and produce more carriers faster than the Chinese can, and then embark more powerful 5th generation stealth aircraft upon them. Please feel free to subscribe to my channel and look at all of the 1/350, 1/72, and 1/700 videos of modern naval ships and aircraft. Thanks.
