In this trader training video Richard explains that an Open Drive initial balance is the first hour of trade. What it means for the rest of the day, in terms of what the day is likely to be like for the rest of the day. Initial Balance is your first hour of trade and open drive is in one direction. Open Drive whether to the upside or the downside will likely be the high of the day, where it opened. That is a definition of an open drive. So in the 2nd hour of trading important to look at 3 things: 1. Volume 2. Delta 3. Velocity Richard shows us examples in WTI Oil, Eurostoxx, Bund, Dax. Principle is the same in all of them, he looks at a more directional initial balance and a less directional initial balance. Richard then takes a look at initial balance fail, and how important context is. He looks at an Open Drive failure. Context wise we moved a lot down the previous day, so expectation should be less. Shows an example in the Dax 1 minute chart, big red candle, but delta going up.
