Kristina is out on the streets of São Paulo to find out how people celebrate Christmas! JOIN US ON FACEBOOK: / easybrazilianportuguese / easylanguagestreetinterviews SUPPORT OUR PROJECT: http://www.easy-languages.org/support... ALL INFO: http://www.easy-languages.org ----- Easy Languages is an international video project aiming at supporting people worldwide to learn languages through authentic street interviews. We also use this format to expose our street culture abroad and create a more diverse image of our countries. Episodes are produced in local languages and contain subtitles in both the original language as well as in English. ---- Notes for this episode: The images look a little old style because we had no other option than filming with a non-HD camera this time. We still hope you enjoy the content of the interviews and wish you a Feliz Natal! DISHES and LANGUAGE: Chester: This is a chicken with a huge breast part, this the name "chest"+er. It often is cheaper than turkey and therefore very popular. Maionese: This is a kind of potato salad with a lot of mayonnaise. Galinhada: This is a mixture of rice and chicken. By the way, you can find some real good Brazilian recipes on this cookery website: http://www.tudogostoso.com.br/ Amigo Ladrão: We translated "Amigo Secreto" (secret friend" with Secret Santa, which is the English word for the same game. Amigo ladrão (stealing friend, robbing friend) is a Stealing Santa version, a game also practised in the USA, where the present you got can be stolen in a second round. In the end still everybody leaves with a present, so don't panic. Tá: People often say "você / ele / ela tá" instead of using the complete verb "você ele / ela está". Thus "eu estou" becomes "eu tô". Cê: Sometimes, when the speaker wants to say "você", all that is left of the word is "cê". But when we want to write the short form the word "você" becomes "vc". The sentence "você está em casa" (you are at home) becomes "vc tá em casa" in a short message. Interviewer: Kristina Bodrožić-Brnić Camera: Roman Bogach Post-Production / Cut: Nesim Patichan Hrvanović Special thanks to Yuri Padilha who helped us with the transcript.
