A fantastic day catching post-spawn bluecats (big fish starting to move offshore)

After an early morning storm system moved through, we made our way to Kaw Lake for a late morning/early afternoon fishing trip. We were able to catch good shad close to the boat ramp and loaded up the bait tank and put some on ice. We started the day in a cove anchored in about 16' of water. We didn't have any luck there, so we moved even shallower to 4' of water. We caught a few small fish there, but not what we were looking for, so we made another move to a steep ledge out in front of the cove. Our boat was anchored in 19' of water, and we were casted in 19 to 26' of water. We started catching more fish and better quality fish. It ended up being a pretty great day of fishing.
