After enjoying a very nice lunch at the pub in the village, our post lunch tower was at the church of All Saints in Biddenden. The tower of All Saints church can be seen for miles around. The belfry holds 8 bells, cast by various founders between 1599 and 1915. The current set of bells are not the easiest ring to strike well. They are however, a very fine example of Alfred Bowell's hanging style with the recognizable 'H' type headstocks. Prior to the 1915 rehanging, some recently discovered files found that the tenor, cast in 1712 by Richard Phelps, required two people to ring and had a rope with two tail ends. Since rehanging it does not require this but after ringing it for some time, the ringer sometimes hopes that there was another ringer assisting.
