World Trade Center Survivor Wendy L. and Lower Manhattan Resident Elliot M. share their personal stories of September 11th in their 9/11 Tribute Museum presentation of We Were There on stage at the National September 11th Memorial Museum. On 9/11, Wendy was on the 29th floor of the North Tower. Though she was able to escape before the collapse, her most profound loss that day was that of her friend Abe Zelmanowitz who would not leave his wheelchair-bound friend. Abe and his friend perished on the 27th floor, shortly after the firemen arrived that came to rescue them. Elliot is a Battery Park City resident and was in his home on 9/11. He talks about witnessing the second plane hit the South Tower, watching jumpers, being overtaken by the dust cloud, and spending three and a half months in his daughter's apartment when he and his wife were displaced from their home. He also talks about the revitalization of Lower Manhattan and contends that it is still the best neighborhood in the world.
