Duned to Repeat | Capturing Epic Landscapes & Camping at Great Sand Dunes National Park

So, I went to the desert again. Can't help it. It's neat. This is the start of yet another trip out there with the first stop, Great Sand Dunes National Park! Still crazy to me that this place is in Colorado. I pretty much always associate the state mountains and skiing mentally - turns out they have nice deserty spots too. I'll show you some view along the way into the park from Denver. We'll do some nice panoramic landscape photography entering the park before getting to the campsite then going for a little hike towards the dunes. Similar to Mesquite Flats dunes, black and white imagery worked out really nicely with a number of these photos, so I'll showcase a variety of edits. The geology of how this place exists is pretty interesting. Towards the end I use a bit of footage that was distributed by the National Park Service to run you through it. It really is just one of those things where a number of events lined up - and there they are. Giant dunes that are around 750ft in height. There will have to be a repeat trip out here at some point. There's a ton to see and we only had one night here. In the future I'd like to be out here for a number of nights and do some backcountry camping / photography in the dune field. One more adventure to add to the eventual to-do list. Following this video there's going to be a continuation (which I run through the itinerary briefly). We go from here to the Utah/Arizona border to stay at Valley of the Gods and explore Monument Valley in the Navajo nation. That will likely be the following two videos, then we'll continue on to Canyonlands National Park and explore the Needles District. Still a lot of editing to do on the backend for the trip. At time of writing (and completing editing) I'm only through about a third of it. Life, man! It's busy! ___________________________________________________________ Check out my website or follow my on social if you wanna - want a 1440p copy of a photo for personal use (computer background or whatever)?
