Napoleon: Total War 1vs1: Dutch Grenadiers vs Pavlovsk Grenadiers Nation: France vs Russia AI Strength: normal Dutch Grenadiers are the best grenadiers in Napoleon: Total War (Velite Grenadiers are more numerous, but for game classification purposes aren't technically grenadiers due to their inability to throw grenades), and the only ones that can inspire nearby units. While they have fewer men in their regiment compared to line infantry or guards, their superb reloading skills puts their killing potential on par with that of guards despite the reduced firepower. Despite their name, Dutch Grenadiers cannot be trained by the Batavian Republic or the United Netherlands. Pavlovsk Grenadiers are unique to Russia, and are slightly superior to standard Russian Grenadiers in every way. Like all other grenadiers, they have superior melee statistics at the cost of a smaller regiment size, and have the ability to throw short-ranged explosives in addition to their standard complement of muskets. In addition, Pavlovsk Grenadiers inspire nearby units, allowing them to serve as a subtitute for a general or other elite infantry regiment. Pavlovsk Grenadiers have the best charging bonus out of any infantry in the game, nearly rivaling that of some lancer cavalry. They have the unusual distinction of being only limited to one region in singleplayer, yet having a cap of two regiments in multiplayer battles. One regiment of Pavlovsk Grenadiers are present at the Battle of Borodino, holding the northern Russian flank.
