With a cooler weather and fewer people this season, we had a relaxing and fun time together driving the golf cart on twisty roads and stopping for breathtaking views. Besides shopping, there are many activities to choose from such as zip lining, kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, parasailing, fishing, swimming, hiking, stand up paddle boarding, riding the glass bottom boat or yellow submarine, and relaxing on the beach. The Catalina Casino is an iconic twelve-story-high building with its signature circular architecture and tall pillars which sits on Avalon Harbor. It’s a classic California landmark. It is not a gambling hall but the word "casino" means "a gathering place" in Italian. For more than 80 years, the Casino has been an entertaining venue for special events and first run movies. Next to the Catalina Casino is the Descanso Bay, a calm place in the morning but a lively happening spot during midday. There are bars, restaurants and even DJ's during the summer. Another beautiful place to book your vacation rentals is the Hamilton Cove properties where their condos and apartments are built on the sides of the mountains. It is somewhat secluded and boast a beautiful beach for you to unwind and relax. For those who love golf, you can play on the oldest golf course in Southern California, the Catalina Island Golf Course which was first built in 1892. Another must visit is the Wrigley Memorial & Botanical Garden which features a stunning monument to William Wrigley Jr. and lush gardens designed by his wife. It's a 30-minute walk up Avalon Canyon from downtown Avalon.
