Built in 1978 by Arrow Development Company at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, then known as Busch Gardens: The Old Country, the Loch Ness Monster, officially designated an ACE Roller Coaster Landmark in 2003 at the ride’s 25th anniversary, is acknowledged as the world’s first continuous track interlocking loop roller coaster. With the signature twin loops and structure rising 180-feet above the park’s Rhine River, it features a 114-foot high drop and double helix through the mountain-like 'Dragon's Lair’ and was instrumental in the worldwide development of the tubular steel tracked coaster.
