Here's some information about the history of Ola Electric, an Indian electric vehicle (EV) company:  Founding Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola Cabs, established Ola Electric in 2017 as a subsidiary of ANI Technologies. The company was created to reduce the use of fuel and emissions in Ola's cabs, and to shift to mass electric mobility.  Pilot program In May 2017, Ola Electric launched a pilot program in Nagpur, India, by setting up charging stations and procuring electric vehicles.  Spin-off In April 2018, Aggarwal bought a 92.5% stake in Ola Electric from ANI Technologies, and the company was spun off as a separate entity.  Scooter launch On July 2, 2021, Aggarwal unveiled the Ola S1 scooter in Bengaluru, and pre-bookings started through the Ola mobile app. The scooter was launched on August 15, 2021, with sales starting on September 8.  Future plans Ola Electric plans to expand into electric motorcycles and cars, and to launch an electric car in December 2024. The company is also building a Gigafactory to produce lithium-ion batteries.  Manufacturing Ola Electric's Future Factory has a paint shop, motor line, and battery line. The factory uses 3-stage reverse osmosis to recycle and reuse 95% of its process water.
