S1 – Ep 197 – Storms River Village – A Small Settlement Set in the Heart of the Tsitsikamma Forest!

We left our accommodation and made two stops before we reached the small settlement of Storms River Village. The first one was the famous Storms River Bridge where we filled up with fuel and then took a walk to the beautiful viewpoint at the Petroport. Then we walked through under the bridge and over to see the stunning gorge from the top. This is an absolute must-stop for everyone travelling here. The second stop was at the Tsitsikamma Big Tree. The lady allowed us in with the vehicle so that Sonia could walk a shorter distance to also see the tree. It is 1000 years old, stands 36,5 meters tall and has a circumference of over 8 meters. Spectacular! Then it was off to the village. What an amazing place! It always blows my mind to think that not too long ago, even in the early 1800’s herds of elephant used to migrate across these forests.
