With the decline of the need for physical media for things like music, so too declines the need for mechanical contraptions to play that media. I grew up in the era of vinyl, which means I also grew up in the era of turntables. From the huge wooden console stereo, to the cheap consumer all-in-one, to finally the professional direct drive turntable in this video - my music journey included all of these devices. This video is all about the last stop on my turntable journey, the Technics direct drive turntable that I first used at my college radio station, and that still plays records (occasionally) in my living room today. This video is a bit random and rambly, and is a love letter of sorts to my radio days, to my formative music-listening years, and to all those years when we listened to music as much with our hands as with our ears.
