Calico Tank Red Rock Canyon Nevada Nestled just 24 kilometers away from the bustling Las Vegas Strip, we find ourselves at the serene Red Rock Canyon, a proud part of the National Conservation Area and under the careful stewardship of the Bureau of Land Management. This area is renowned for its variety of challenging trails, each offering a unique glimpse into the breathtaking landscapes around. Today, our adventure leads us to the Calico Tank Trail. Braving the scorching heat, which soared above 100° Fahrenheit, we embarked on this trail, undeterred by the daunting mile-in, mile-out journey. A quick tip for fellow hikers: tackling this trail with a hangover is not advisable. I'd classify the Calico Tank trail as ranging from high moderate to slightly challenging. It's an excellent opportunity for those new to scrambling to test their affinity for this adventurous activity. This trail is far from a leisurely stroll in the park. While there are patches of shade, those with fair skin should take extra precautions to shield themselves from the sun's intense rays. The hike up the canyon, especially when not battling a hangover in 100-degree heat, is an incredibly beautiful experience. We've decided to keep the most challenging and steepest part of the climb a secret for now, saving the surprise for when you reach the tank. But fear not, we will share some captivating footage of the descent. From the glitz and glamour of the Casino to the rugged beauty of the Calico, this journey has been one to remember.
