Baby Elephant Khanyisa Tackles Timisa as Jealousy Strikes!

Meisiekind is struck by the green eyed monster as jealousy raises its ugly head and causes Khanyisa to fight with Timisa, usually her good friend and playmate. Khanyisa has been showing more and more jealousy towards Timisa in the presence of Adine especially, worried that she is no longer the apple of Adine’s eye perhaps. She wants to hold onto her spot as the baby and therefore most cared for elephant in the herd. We have seen this jealousy with Pisa especially in the early days, towards both Timisa and Khanyisa. Pisa struggled to accept that she was no longer the baby of the herd and would fight with Timisa and Khanyisa as the two moved in and took more attention away from her. This is a natural part of growing up for both elephants and humans and quite fascinating to observe in the herd. Khanyisa is protective over her food too and refuses to share with Timisa on this morning. Timisa keeps trying to get her trunk on a snack as Khanyisa eats her breakfast but Khanyisa is not having it! She seems to forget her smaller size and boisterously goes after Timisa to show her who’s boss! Bulls Jabulani and Zindoga both move in to break it up and inspect the fight between the youngest elephants in the herd. When it’s time to head into the bush, Khanyisa is still at it, trying to head butt her poor friend…
