This is not a guide. I recently got hold of a 2mb (max) RAM expansion unit from Danish AmiTech. It still had the battery on it, and some corrosion had already occured. In this quick video, I check for any damage and remove the battery. Not much to it, really. I’m sure it’s possible to replace it with a newer battery, but that is not important to me at this time. Perhaps a future project? For the people who are not aware, the battery is needed for the on-board clock. After you set the time, the battery keeps the clock running when the computer is off. It's not that important on an Amiga 500, when you just use it for games or demos.
