Gear I Loved, Hated, and Wished I Had on the John Muir Trail/Nüümü Poyo

While hiking Nüümü Poyo, also called the John Muir Trail, gear is everything. Carrying your backpacking gear up mountains, you want to have ultralight backpacking gear, but you want to stay warm, comfortable, and healthy up in the Sierra Nevadas too. This is my packing list, what I thought about it, and what I would change, so you can see my reasoning and figure out what works best for you! Why call the trail Nüümü Poyo? To show respect for the folks that called the area home for centuries! This is a really good article explaining more, you should give it a read: https://www.rei.com/blog/news/nuumu-p... or search Indigenous Women Hike on Instagram! Why am I still using JMT in my titles and such? So people interested in the trail but haven't heard the indigenous name yet will know what I'm talking about! 🎒Gear List🎒 Here is my "script" (aka a note on my phone) I used for this video. It's very basic, but just in case anyone would like a hard copy of what I say in this video. Remember, consumerism is the enemy of environmentalism, so anytime you can barrow gear or find it gentley used second hand, the better!!
