Amplifier channel not working (electrolytic capacitor replace)

This video is general instruction how to repair vintage amplifier with a silent channel. With old amplifiers, it is quite common problem that one of the channels is not working anymore, or even both channels are totally mute/silent. There are many manufacturers and models, but I'll show tips that can be applied to any old amplifiers. I'm not saying that bad electrolytic capacitor is always a reason for silent channel, but it's quite common. In this video I'm showing how to diagnose a bad capacitor and how to select a correct replacement component. One obvious thing I didn't told on the video is that with old devices, is that many common problems are caused by dust getting inside the device. Always do the cleanup when opening an old vintage audio device, and clean also the switches and potentiometers with contact cleaner spray. (check my another video about that..) Device I'm working on, is Yamaha RX-300 Stereo amplifier from the 80's. Side note: I'm a mechanical engineer, but what it comes to electronics, I'm mostly self-learned. Do not try to fix your electronic devices if you're not sure what you're doing. If you handle electrical devices carelessly, you may get electrical shock or cause malfunction to the device.
