Picking Up the Pieces of Us - Meeting Ashley Eckstein voice of Ahsoka Tano at Retro Expo

Dad and Lilly took a trip to Plano, Texas, to experience the Retro Expo collectors convention on November 12, 2021. Although the expo is known for its vintage toys, comic books, video games, a big draw is for the celebrity meet-and-greets. This year’s line up included Ashley Eckstein, François Chau, Kenny James, Veronica Cartwright, Joanna Cassidy, and Cindy Morgan. Lilly is a huge fan of Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars’ animated series The Clone Wars and Rebels. Since 2008, Ashley Eckstein has provided the spirited voice of Ahsoka, the padawan apprentice of Anakin Skywalker. She now has her own Ahsoka-themed clothing line, Her Universe. Lilly had the opportunity to meet Ashley twice during the event, which left her beaming. After meeting her hero, we focused on one of Levi’s favorite villains, Bowser from Super Mario Brothers. Kenny James was more than happy to record a personal message for Levi. Lilly took one look at François Chau and immediately recognized him from his portrayal as Zane Willis from Disney’s K.C. Undercover. He has also appeared as Shredder in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, ABC’s Lost, and voiced the original G.I. Joe cartoons. We then had the pleasure of meeting Victoria Cartwright, who dad remembers as Joan Lambert in the 1979 space-horror film, Alien. After talking with her, we found out she’s also starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, Twilight Zone, and the girl who kissed Dennis Matthews in Leave it to Beaver. Once we left the celebrity area, we were detained by Imperial troops of the 501st Legion DFW Star Garrison. They nearly had us recruited to serve the Empire, but a band of Tuskan Raiders scared us off. From there, we planned on doing a quick walkthrough of the collectibles area. THREE HOURS LATER, we took our bags of toys and video games to the truck and set sail for Fort Worth.
