American Crow

Here is my presentation on the American Crow Corvus brachyrhynchos. The American Crow is one of the most common birds you can see. I wanted to do a shorter presentation length. Subspecies of a species can interbreed and create viable offspring. Molting: In birds, it is a period when birds shed their old feathers, making room for their new feathers. Mobbing: A contagious activity where more than one animal joins in to harass and attack a predator. Cooperative Breeding: Non-parents help take care of the offspring. Horizontal Social Learning: An individual animal learns from watching and listening to others of their species. Vertical Social Learning: Learning from one’s parents. Omnivore: An animal that eats everything from meat and plant sources. Nest Predator: A predator that eats the eggs and nestlings of a bird. Clutch: It is the total number of eggs a bird lays at one time. Brood: It is one or more animals born at the same time. Incubation: It is a behavior, by birds, where one provides warmth to the eggs. This helps to make sure the eggs develop. Nestling: A bird that is too young to leave the nest. Fledging: The process where a bird develops the proper wing feathers for flight.
