#thegearcentre #patsdriveline #twinstickgarage Picking up where the last episode left off, I’ve dropped off the 4 speed Spicer auxiliary transmission that I pulled out of my 1979 Peterbilt 359 off at the Gear Center where they have taken it completely apart. You can sure tell that Josh, one of their service techs, has done this before. Upon inspection it appears the worst worn components are the input yoke and the 4th (overdrive gear) plus all the spacers, bearings and seals. Was really grateful that Greg (Service Center Manager) was there as well to share some of his deep knowledge of old Spicer gearboxes as he’s been rebuilding them since the 70’s … I learned a lot and hope you did as well.
