We are riding up to Pioneer Basin in the Eastern Sierras on horseback! I joined a photography tour hosted by Ken Lee of Art of Seeing Photography Tours: . https://artofseeing.com/ Ken Lee has some impressive photography tours and I was privileged to be able to join him on this trip! . The company that did all the work for our horseback trip was Rock Creek Pack Station at: . https://www.RockCreekPackStation.com . Rock Creek Pack Station provided the horses, the wranglers to guide and assist us – as well as setup camp, cooked meals, and packed and unpacked all our gear. They were quite an impressive crew and I highly recommend them! . The Ride to Pioneer Basin One person described it as a bone-jarring six-hour ride – I can agree to that! But once we got to Pioneer Basin and settled into our Base Camp, the difficulties were forgotten (until the ride back!) We stayed at the base camp for five days and four nights. We were at an elevation of over 10,000 feet with chilly nights and a few mosquitoes during the days and evenings. We had camp already setup for us and had a great cook for all our breakfast and dinner meals. . Day Hike to an Alpine Lake The second day we did a day hike to a series of alpine lakes. Ken Lee led us up a hike for a couple miles and then we each did our own photography in the area. I decided to hike closeup to one of the snowbanks above us and was successful in reaching it. . Night Sky Photography Ken Lee setup a Night photography session for us. We had a late moon rising and right as it became dark, we all got some amazing photographs of the night skies, the Milky Way, and the constellations. The results were amazing! .
