Climbing Kalymnos | Alcinoo** (7b)

Our first day at the Odyssey wall in Kalymnos did not disappoint!!! Everyone we spoke to had told us about the polished routes and to expect the grades to be at least 1-2 harder due to it, but we had a great time. The routes were a little polished and the feet could sometimes be hard to stick but at the end of the day they were still classic routes in an incredible scene. It takes about 5 mins to walk into the Odyssey crag and as soon as you get there you are met with quality routes from 5a-9a. Today we started low and jumped on a few warm ups, one of them featured in the video "Cirque" a 3* 6b with an exceptional view out to Telendos. Then came the choice, either continue with volume or work up to something harder so I jumped on Alcinoo** 6b/25. It starts slightly technical then leads you through big holds in the over hang until you hit the crux which is right at the end. I came one move away from the flash as I just didn't commit to the powerful move to the sharp Gaston. 2nd attempt it went down, still a decent amount of effort but it felt incredible.
