Tim Daly is perhaps best known for his TV roles as Joe Hackett on series "Wings," as Dr. Pete Wilder on "Private Practice", and as the voice of Superman in the animated series. He has been nominated for an Emmy award for his performance on 'The Sopranos", and a SAG award for "The Fugitive". He has received Humanitas and Peabody awards for "Edge of America", and is also the recipient of Golden Satellite, Gracie, Theatre World, and GLAAD awards. Tim Daly is President of The Creative Coalition, the leading non-profit, nonpartisan social and public advocacy organization of the arts and entertainment community. He produced the Showtime documentary 'Poliwood' for TCC, directed by Barry Levinson. The film chronicles the collision between politics, Hollywood, and the media during the presidential race of 2008. He has directed two PSAs for TCC, one for Blue Star Families to raise awareness about military suicides, and the Gracie award winning "Watch What you Watch" in collaboration with the Girl Scouts, to encourage media literacy among young women. He is on the board of Inside Out Writers, a Los Angeles based non-profit organization that utilizes writing to help juvenile offenders repair their lives. Daly is on the board of the Putney School in Putney Vermont where the first energy net zero, LEED's platinum school building in the USA was recently built. In June 2008, Daly was named ambassador for Lee National Denim Day — a fundraiser for breast cancer, benefiting the Women's Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
