The non-native bush Honeysuckles can grow to impressive sizes if left untreated. Their removal requires more thought and care than smaller infestations. While this work can be done with hand tools, like bow saws, it is much easier and faster using a chainsaw. We discuss our procedure and why we choose to do it in winter. We also explain why we choose to use a battery-operated chainsaw. Because we heat with wood, our procedure tends to focus on saving the majority of the cut brush for firewood, but the basic principles remain the same whether you are harvesting the wood, leaving it to rot in place, or hauling it to a burn pile.
