The plot revolves around Mike Banning (played by Gerard Butler), a Secret Service agent who is framed for an assassination attempt on the President of the United States, Allan Trumbull (played by Morgan Freeman). The movie begins with Banning suffering from insomnia and struggling with the physical toll of his job as a Secret Service agent.
