Incabloc is a shock-protection device meant to absorb hits and protect the balance staff, that is, the pivots of the regulating organ of the watch. There was a time, when you could drop a watch, even from a relatively low height, and it would suffer a major damage! This was the case until watch manufacturers begun to employ different protection mechanisms. One of the most famous, if not THE most famous was (and still is) the Incabloc, developed in the 1930s by Portescap, in Switzerland.
