Patch 5.1 - Rogue solo Viscidus Viscidus is an optional boss in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. There is nothing special about him until you get him down to 1hp. Unfortunately, he will remain at 1hp no matter how much damage you do and the only way to kill him is to freeze and shatter him. Start this by bombarding him with frost-based attacks such as Frostbolt, Frost Shock, or Icy Touch. Viscidus will go through the 3 stages below as you are hitting him with frost attacks. 1. "Viscidus begins to slow." -- Movement and attack speed reduced by 15%. This phase begins after 100 frost abilities were used against the boss. 2. "Viscidus is freezing up." -- Movement and attack speed reduced by 30%. This phase begins after 150 frost abilities were used against the boss. 3. "Viscidus is frozen solid." -- Movement and attacks cease completely. This phase begins after 200 frost abilities were used against the boss. Once Viscidus is frozen, you need to shatter him. Do this by hitting him with melee attacks. He needs to be hit with 30 attacks in 30 seconds or he will thaw out and you will need to begin the frost attacks again. The stages of shattering are: 1. "Viscidus begins to crack" 2. "Viscidus looks ready to shatter. 3. "Viscidus explodes" If Viscidus is under 5% health when he explodes, this will kill him. Otherwise he will explode into a maximum of 20 Globs of Viscidus that need to be killed. Each glob represents 5% of his total health and killing the last one will defeat the boss. However, the globs come back together and Viscidus reforms within a few seconds. Patch 5.1 made Viscidus soloable by any class. For melee classes, this is now incredibly easy to solo. If you don't have any frost abilities of your own (like me), you can coat your weapons with Frost Oil and engineers can use Frost Grenades once a minute to speed up the freezing process a bit. Because the Frost Oil has a relatively low chance to proc (10%), I recommend also using very light weapons such as Dalaran Sword, Dalaran Axe, Dalaran Great Axe, Dalaran Dagger, or Dalaran Cudgel. For ranged classes that don't have any frost abilities, such as Warlocks or Druids, your Viscidus encounter will be a little longer but it is still completely soloable. I recommend burning him down to 1% health with your regular abilities, then auto attack with one of the fast melee weapons listed above while it's coated with Frost Oil. Once he is frozen, it's important to remember that melee attacks are required to shatter him. Utilize any melee minion abilities such as Grimoire of Service with a Felguard, Shadowfiend, Force of Nature, or Snake Trap. If you don't have any melee abilities at all, such as Mages, you will need to first obtain a Miniature Voodoo Mask from the level 85 Heroic Dungeon Zul'Aman.
