HRK st552 vs Neve 542 Analog Tape Emulator Shootout

Gather 'round children and let me tell you all a story about how one day I did an analog tape emulator shootout. It was a daunting and challenging task, but somehow I pulled it off! This is a one to one comparison of one of the most popular tape emulators out there, the Neve 542 and the HRK st552. I used a Burl B80 converter with line inputs on the B4 card, and outputs from the B22 card without the transformers engaged. There's plenty of knob twiddling and good 'ol hand to hand combat in this one. The video was uploaded in 4k, 24 bit/96 Khz. We'll see how Youtube handles the challenge. But it will likely be converted down to something it's not so afraid of. Some of the differences are subtle, some aren't. But believe you me you will be doing a blasphemous act if you listen to this on a phone or laptop speaker. Just don't do it. We only have one life, and there's no point in wasting time with silly things like that. Do the right thing and use headphones. I'd be interested in hearing what you think of these units.
