A fajã is narrow strip of land lying between a sharp cliff and the ocean shoreline. To get down to the idyllic Fajã dos Padres, we take a quick ride on a small hanging cable car. Here we find a small tourism village, many organic produce fields with lots of flowers, and impressive Monarch butterflies, as well as an old monastery (hence the name Padres, priests), a restaurant serving local Madeiran food, and a small rocky beach. If you're in Madeira, Fajã dos Padres is a nice place to spend an afternoon or perhaps to take a few days and relax.
