At the end, the reaction mixture was blown out of the bulb. Cyalume light sticks were opened and used in a variety of experiments. The sticks include hydrogen peroxide, diphenyl oxalate, and a dye. Yellow-green color light was obtained with a 1-chloro-9,10-bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene as a dye. Red color was obtained by Rhodamine B. Blue color was obtained by 9,10-diphenylanthracene. Orange color was obtained by 5,12-bis(phenylethynyl) naphthacene. Finally, a common glow-worm was filmed in nature. The yellow-green color of the glow-worm was caused by the oxidation of luciferin.
