Betty Ayikoru is a beekeeper , farmer , and an local councillor in Arua district in northern Uganda. She works with Honey Pride Arua, a social enterprise founded by Sam Aderubo and supported by the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF). Like many others, her life has improved thanks to skill straining , and the sustainable market provided by the business . Northern Uganda has higher poverty and less employment tha n the rest of the country, which is why the UN is backing projects aimed at boosting the regional economy and creating sustainable employment for local people.
