He is the third son of the Kingdom’s founder, King Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud. He lost his mother, Tarfa bint Abdullah bin Abdullatif Al Sheikh, when he was five months old and was raised by his maternal grandmother at the house of his grandfather, Abdullah bin Abdullatif who is one of Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulwahab’s descendants. His grandfather taught him the Quran and the principles of Islam by the age of nine. King Faisal learned horseback riding and politics from his father. He developed high values and principles and was known for his courage, decency, and intelligence since childhood. He was delegated by his father to represent him in international events at a very early age, and King Faisal continued to serve his father, nation, and people throughout his life. He marked battlefields with his bravery and political halls with his intelligence and determination. He followed in his father’s footsteps as he built a solid relationship with his people and earned their respect for being both fair and firm. King Faisal was also a modest leader who led a life of piousness. He fought for justice, supported the underprivileged, and strove for equality among his people. Arabs and Muslims sought him for his integrity and endless support. King Faisal was a man of his word who was not taken by the glamour of his reign, but who succeeded in preserving his humility.
