WINTER in the BLUE RIDGE with music by Amy White & Al Petteway

All Rights Reserved for both Music and Imagery - © 2021 Amy D White & Al Petteway A collection of some of my favorite winter scenes from our two plus decades of blissed-out living in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. Featuring music by Amy White & Al Petteway, and photography and wildlife trail camera videos by Amy White, with several magical transitions and a few sweet images by Al Petteway. During our first decade in WNC, we were blessed to live above the snowline, at 4200' elevation. A beautiful phenomenon called Rime Ice happens often at that elevation during the winter months. There is nothing quite so magical as waking up to a winter wonderland completely coated in sparkling white rime ice -- especially when the clouds dissipate and that white frosting sparkles against a brilliant blue winter sky. Our new home is truly wonderful, too. However, it sits a full 1000' lower in elevation, which means we’re no longer living above the snow-line. sigh Those brilliant flashes of rime ice are a fairly rare occurrence down here now. We were so very lucky to have lived with that seasonal icing all those years! We're extremely fortunate, still, to live in this beautiful new setting with gorgeous pastoral views, all rung by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. __________________________________________________________ MUSIC DURING the IMAGES: WE THREE KINGS Public Domain, John Henry Hopkins, 1857 Arranged by Al Petteway Guitar: Al Petteway Piano: Amy White From “A Midnight Clear” with Robin Bullock - now out of print, although there are several copies floating out there. We may even have a few, although I'm not sure. LULLABY By Amy White Guitar, Vocal: Amy White Bouzouki, Vocal: Al Petteway From the album, “Racing Hearts”, Al’s and my our first formal duo album. Now out of print. Available on iTunes:   / racing-hearts   If you ever decide to purchase Lullaby individually as a download, we'd be grateful if you purchased it from the “Racing Hearts” album, and not from the “Acoustic Journey” album. Unfortunately, we do not get any royalties from Acoustic Journey sales. MUSIC DURING the CLOSING CREDITS: BAREBACK By Amy White & Al Petteway Piano: Amy White Guitar: Al Petteway From my second solo piano album, “BITTERSWEET: An American Romance”. Available on CD from our website, as well as as an album download on iTunes:   / bittersweet-an-american-romance   https://www.alandamy.com/store/?pcid=1 ________________________________________ “BITTERSWEET” features two duets with my husband, Al Petteway on guitar, and two duets with my father, Richard White on oboe. Dad was in the National Symphony orchestra for forty-seven years as an oboist, and later, also as principal English horn soloist. I cannot read music. Since my father was a classical musician, he was obviously “paper-trained” and didn’t do much in the way of playing by ear. So, to help us bridge that gap, Al played “interpreter” for me, and wrote out the music onto the page that I had written for my father in my mind. It was such a powerful and poignant time for us all. Our pre-recording rehearsal (where Dad overdubbed his part) and later album release concert were the only two times my father and I played music together. It’s not often you get a standing ovation before intermission, but Dad and I were so pleased and surprised by that warm response to our first (and last) public duet. I’ll always have that as a beautiful and powerful memory. Miss you, Dad! DOWNLOADS and OUR ANTIQUATED WEBSITE: We’re hoping to offer more of our music as digital downloads soon on our own (old-as-the-hills) website. At least iTunes offers most of our music as downloads now. In the meantime, there’s more information on our website: https://www.alandamy.com/store/?pcid=1 PHOTOGRAPHY: For years, our photography was represented by The National Geographic’s Stock Image agency. Al worked in the Nat Geo Image Sales Collection for close to twenty years, so we were grateful to be included in their fine roster of photographers. Unfortunately, after two major corporate buy-outs, (first by FOX, then by Disney), The National Geographic decided to shutter their Image Collection. The photographers were crushed. In the New Year we will focus on shopping our work to other photo agencies. There are a few companies with whom we already had a tangential relationship since they had partnered with National Geographic in previous years and had already sold much of our work. Those companies would probably be a good place for us to start our inquiries. We hope to have our images available online again soon. Thanks for reading all the way down here! (And thanks for watching the video, too. I sure hope you enjoyed it!)
