FAHS Feilding High School 1st XV Match Report. Travelling on Friday through to the Waikato to play St Peter’s School on the outskirts of Cambridge the team had our customary stop at Taupo to smash some golf balls at the range and to find out who is the teams Long John Daly. Always a fun event and plenty of laughs. Billeting on the park like campus in one of the hostels we had an early morning start to prepare for the 11am kickoff. Bit of early morning river fog soon burnt off and we prepped well for the match. Recognising that St Peter’s had put in an almost flawless first half in their match against Whanganui Collegiate last weekend the team was made well aware that despite a lot of new faces in the side the Coaching group for St Peter’s always turns out teams ready to go and will play the full 70. Kicking off we gained early possession after a minute of play got Dan Maisiri through into the left corner to score early. St Peters came back at us and for the next 13 minutes attacked strongly. We couldn't clear our half and they eventually opened their scoring with a try to Kees Butler. The final 15 minutes we had good advantage and scored tries to Rupeni, Alani and Peni. HT 26-5 St Peters opened the scoring in the 2nd half after 13 minutes with a well worked try when we had a player in the bin. We soon struck back with a try to Alani and another soon after by Kailan. Our discipline was starting to hurt us, with a penalty try against us and then a try out wide to Luca Miller when we had only 13 on the field - took the score to 38-22. With a minute to play our forwards finished the game with a robust display of carries for Alani to score at the end. A hard away win and the Rick T Francis Shield was making the trip back home to Feilding on SH1. FAHS 45 (Alani Fakava 2, Dan Maisiri, Rupeni Raviyawa, Peni Havea, Kailan Ellmers, Peni Havea tries; Nixon Foreman 3, Karnyae Ropiha-Waiwai 2 conversions) SPS 22 (Kees Butler, Cruz Marra, Luca Millar tries, Penalty Try) HT: 26-5 to FAHS. As there are two sides in a rugby match - we acknowledge all scorers in the matches we play. 🟥🟦⬜ BELONG : ENGAGE : SUCCEED Kia Toa Kia Ngakaunui #fahsrugby #CNIrugby
