Torticollis Exercises in Babies

Lorena Vargas, a Physical Therapist, shares an exercise to help your baby with torticollis. These exercises should only be performed with the consent of a pediatrician or physical therapist. Help your baby to roll from the hips on the side they do not prefer to move to. This way, your baby will be elongating the tight muscles and activating the muscles on the other side of the body. Rolling is an important milestone for your baby because it helps to improve head control and muscle activation in the neck and core, which is essential for tummy time, creeping, and crawling. These exercises can be helpful if you notice that your child tilts their head to one side or has difficulty rotating their head to both sides. These exercises will help to promote symmetry on both sides of their body while working on gross motor skills.
