Two decades have passed since the first Badiarov Violoncello da Spalla was created, 2003-2023, and this year marks 20 years since the revival of this musical tradition. In 2003, few classical musicians were aware that modern-day cellos were not made to the specifications of 21st century musicians or to today's standards. They also didn't know that the cello wasn't always called "cello" (in fact, it never was, "cello" being a modern abbreviation of the word "violoncello"). It was also a struggle for them to accept that cellos came in various sizes, allowing violinists and violists to play them too. Today, I am encountering an increasing number of non-musicians who are familiar with the violoncello da spalla.
