The First Violoncello Da Spalla Of 2023

Two decades have passed since the first Badiarov Violoncello da Spalla was created, 2003-2023, and this year marks 20 years since the revival of this musical tradition. In 2003, few classical musicians were aware that modern-day cellos were not made to the specifications of 21st century musicians or to today's standards. They also didn't know that the cello wasn't always called "cello" (in fact, it never was, "cello" being a modern abbreviation of the word "violoncello"). It was also a struggle for them to accept that cellos came in various sizes, allowing violinists and violists to play them too. Today, I am encountering an increasing number of non-musicians who are familiar with the violoncello da spalla. This would not have been possible without the early adopters who brought this aspect of classical music culture back to life. People who care about culture and the good things it brings. As a violin maker, I am not as proficient in playing as you might expect, but the purpose of this video is not to demonstrate my playing ability, but rather to open your imagination to how a full-time experienced violinist or violist might play it. In fact, if you search on YouTube, you will find several of my clients who play the instrument remarkably well, such as Ryo Terakado, Sergey Malov, and Jesenka Balic Zunic. You may be wondering, "Does it sound well? Is it easy to play? Is there any repertoire for it?" I would advise you not to solely rely on my words. For testimonials on my work, please check my playlist or visit my website, and certainly, learn more about it from my book "On Da Spalla, How Violinists Can Find Their Unique Voice & Open New Career Opportunities In 14 Days."
