Kidney transplant is the only permanent procedure for curing Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) where the kidneys function very slowly and very inefficiently which is painful and damaging for a person’s overall health. Usually CKD patients opt for dialysis, but it can be a painful, expensive and temporary solution to the problem. CKD can cause eventual kidney failure, also known as End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) where the kidneys stops functioning at all and may end up fatal. There are three advantages to living donations versus getting a deceased donor kidney: Getting a kidney from a spouse or relative is often quicker. A kidney from a living donor is completely healthy.
