It is situated at a distance of 11 km (6.8 mi) from the city of Nainital, the district headquarters; at an average elevation of 1,654 m (5,427 ft) from sea level. It is the seat of Bhowali tehsil, one of the eight subdivisions of Nainital district. Bhowali is most known for its T.B. sanatorium, established here in 1912. It is an important fruit market for all the neighbouring region, and an important road junction to neighbouring hill stations, like Nainital, Bhimtal, Mukteshwar, Ranikhet and Almora. It lies close to Ghorakhal, known for GoluDevtatemple and SainikSchool Ghorakhal. Bhowali is a natural paradise, Situated at an elevation of 1654 m, scenic Bhowali is a gateway to the Kumaon region. Surrounded by several lakes, lush forests, fruit orchards and tea estates, Bhowali is popular for its salubrious climate, which made it the ideal location for the TB Sanatorium established in 1912. Located at the heart of Uttarakhand's fruit belt, you can buy fresh apples, plums, peaches, strawberries and apricots here. Situated at a junction to roads leading to Mukteshwar, Bhimtal, and Ranikhet. Bhowali is a convenient base for exploring the region. It also offers a great diversity of birds and has several greenhouses, where exotic plants and herbs are cultivated. BEST TIME TO VISIT April to June and September to December are considered to be the best months to visit Bhowali It is well known that Bhowali is a paradise for nature lover, however, the place is also paradise for fruits lover. In fact, Bhowali is a popular fruit market of whole Kumaon Region.
