Chattenden Barracks & Lodge Hill Camp Documentary

We take a look back at the history of the former MOD sites at Chattenden & Lodge Hill and see what remains today. Please note: this site is genuinely inaccessible and we must clarify not to see this as an encouragement to visit. Its history below is however incredible. Don't forget to check out our photos on our Facebook Page. Lodge Hill Camp recently sold by the MoD forms part of an enormous military complex at Chattenden originally emerging in the Victorian era for explosives storage where it continued to be expanded into WW2. By the 1960s, it saw use as a Royal Engineers explosives and bomb disposal school. The 'village' pictured in these photos despite being fully furnished was in fact just a model, built in the 1960s as an urban training environment designed to resemble Cupar Street in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. The elongated brown building also pictured was built more recently for a similar purpose but for the Iraq War. Also pictured is an engineers construction training site probably used for training in building field defences and utilities in warzones, featuring a number of likely 21st-century pillboxes made from breeze blocks. Possibly one of the coolest and recently relevant military sites we've come across. Shot on the DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone and Osmo Pocket
