Alexandra Horowitz of Barnard College on the Science of Animal Sentience at Launch of New Institute

Alexandra Horowitz, Senior Research Fellow and Adjunct Associate Professor at Barnard College, presents a lecture on animal sentience at the launch of the University of Denver's new Institute for Animal Sentience and Protection. The institute is funded through a generous estate gift from Dr. Robert Brinkmann, and is a collaboration between the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and Graduate School of Social Work. Colorado Governor Jared Polis and first gentleman Marlon Reis were present to welcome the launch of the new institute. Dr. Horowitz is an author whose writing has been published in Time Magazine, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Atlantic. Dr. Horowitz has written extensively on the topic of animal sentience in books that include Inside of a Dog and Our Dogs, Ourselves.
