I've been in Ireland traveling for almost 2 months and I have to say this is still my favorite Castle ,Hotel Stay. Factoring in the cost, ambience, location, breakfast and overall feeling of the stay, it's great. It's a popular location for weddings so book in advance. The castle is built on it's own 300 acre island. You have to take a free ferry to get on the island. Original structure was a tower house circa 1645., later added on in 1895. In 1980's became a Hotel. Play the 18 hole parklike golf course next door. We stayed in the Ormonde Suite
